Key Purpose

The SAP Global License Audit and Compliance (GLAC) organization is responsible for protecting SAP’s intellectual property, while putting the customer experience first and foremost. We provide our customers services and tools for license audit and compliance that are reliable, predictable, transparent, and globally consistent.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

Within the GLAC organization the License & Compliance Management (LCM) function is a Centre of Excellence delivering consulting and advisory services to customers and sales persons in license usage and smart license management. The LCM Team is the key interface between SAP Global License Audit and Compliance (GLAC) and SAP’s Customers and Sales organization. LCM is responsible for planning the annual customer audit cycle, selecting the most appropriate audit approach, liaising with key customer contacts, ensuring the audit process and scope is well understood, explaining and clarifying audit results, managing other non-audit aspects of compliance including: extended use rights and digital access requirements, as well as responding to customer requests for pro-active support and guidance.

The LCM teams globally are aligned with SAP Regional structures ensuring a strong independent function capable of representing the needs of License Audit and Compliance with internal stakeholders including Sales, Finance, Commercial and Legal. This position is a senior role with responsibility for developing the Market Unit LCM team tasked with the activities above as well as taking personal responsibility for key business metrics, resolving of out-of-compliance situations and complex customer engagements. A vital part of the role is to ensure adherence to agreed corporate software audit and compliance standards and consistent and transparent execution of audits and compliance resolutions.

He/she implements business strategies, objectives, and sustainable coverage models to successfully achieve the correct balance of internal and external stakeholder satisfaction and process compliance. Ensures active participation throughout the customer lifecycle – primarily after the run and optimize phase but where required during the evaluate, select and implement phases, as needed. Builds and maintains strategic partnerships with key internal stakeholders and in partner and customer organizations. Represents SAP externally providing License Management advice and consultancy to Customers and major Partners. Acts as a point of escalation and dispute resolution, meeting key customer executives to ensure fair and sustainable resolutions to compliance situations.

The responsibilities of the role lie across the four key areas of Operations, Customer Experience, Internal Stakeholders and Business Transformation are as follows:

Area 1: Operational Management – Defines LCM GTM including resource allocation, coverage model and territory allocation. Drives territory planning and regional audit planning for both Basic and Enhanced Audits. Ensures the necessary preparations are in place to the required quality standards. Ensures adherence to policy and process, audit quality and consistency. Manages legal escalation and risk management.

Area 2: Customer Experience Management - Provides a strong leadership position within the Market Unit management team, acting as both a role model for customer empathy and a point of escalation for C-level engagement, dispute resolution and advice on complex, long running compliance cases. Periodically meets with customers to assess general conduct of License Audit and Compliance and to protect SAP reputational assets.

Area 3: Internal Stakeholder Management – provides a vital link for the voice of the customer through regional engagement to Global License Audit and Compliance management. Maintain regular cadence calls with MU MD/COO. Provides input for the purposes of validating forecast as it relates to License Audit & Compliance related deals. Reports as required by GLAC management.

Area 4: Transformation Management - Contributes with global management colleagues to the development of a clear vision and strategic direction for SAP's Global License Audit and Compliance organization, identifying and communicating opportunities for improved levels of IP protection and stakeholder satisfaction. Implements effective change management, in cascading changes in global policies and processes when required, including communication to internal and external stakeholders.

Experience & Education

Significant years (15 ) experience in Sales Management, Commercial, Consulting and / or Business Operations roles with large, multi-national software/technology organization. SAP product and pricing knowledge a plus. Detailed understanding of SAP License Audit and Compliance policy and procedures is essential. Record of building strong customer relationships against a backdrop of complex dispute resolution. Prior experience successfully managing people/teams in complex, geographically dispersed locations essential. Fluency in English is mandatory, any other language an asset.

Candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) required, MBA or equivalent degree required from accredited university.
