Sales engineering specialist role providing deep technical expertise, obtaining technical closure and management of technical risks for Symantec Security offerings in the Australia and New Zealand region.
Support selling and services resources to complete assessment-led technical selling
Confirm customer business goals and IT strategies; assess and recommend best Symantec solution; provide technical input for RFIs and RFPs responses; provide demonstration and proof-of-concept where required; and drive technical closure
Supports new business opportunities and helps to build and qualify pipeline of opportunities
Actively participate in the global Symantec technical security community.
Be a team player - able to collaborate and form virtual teams when engaging on larger opportunities
At least 5 years customer facing experience
At least 5 years proven in-depth knowledge of relevant technology area
Experience in proposal writing/statement of work
IT background with experience working in security/software related business
Enjoys the challenges and is passionate about selling and delivering complex technology in a competitive environment
Excellent Communication skills, which facilitates both presentation and interaction with customers and sharing knowledge with other team members.
Ability to learn quickly and think on one’s feet
Strong aptitude and understanding of security including the threat landscape, business drivers and compliance environment.
Thorough technical understanding of the Symantec products areas/solutions and the application of strategic cross industry solutions
Experience of solutions or adjacent technologies that are complementary to those offered by Symantec
Knowledge of Microsoft and/or at least one UNIX operating system (Solaris, AIX, HPUX, LINUX)
Understanding of IT Compliance & Risk management ( ISO, PCI, risks IT concepts)
Knowledge & experience in any other Symantec relevant technologies
An External Industry Certification eg; CISSP, SNIA, ITIL, SANS GIAC, CISA, CISM
Degree in Computer Science or similar
