Primary Job Responsibilities
eBay is Australia's and the world's online marketplace, where over 108 million members (individuals and businesses) actively buy and sell practically anything every year! This role provides thought leadership, analytics, and actionable insights to eBay Australia’s organization to drive better business results.
Supporting eBay Australia’s Product & Shipping team, this role provides analytic support in the forms of: deep analysis, insights & commentary, reporting & forecasting, target-setting and decision support.
Main responsibilities include:
Team management & development
Leading one other analyst, supporting AU Product & Shipping team
Mentoring & developing AU analysts, from both a technical and professional development perspective
Insights & Strategy development:
Partnering with the Product & Shipping team to identify strategic options, support decision-making, and develop executable strategy on all Product & Shipping related topics, by providing deep analysis, clear insight and commentary of key trends and drivers, and recommendations.
Initiate the process of proposing, leading and presenting strategic analytical studies, to deepen the understanding of the eBay eco system, with a focus on User Experience.
Developing financial impact and risk analysis of strategic options. Forecasting outcomes
Leading ‘deep dives’ into the AU business; conducting business diagnostic reviews; generating insights, and preparing material to present to the AU leadership team, and various other stakeholders.
Developing and leading A/B tests to accurately determine the impact of site modifications, from both a transactional, and a usability point of view.
Performance reporting & targeting
Contributing analytics & commentary to quarterly AU business reviews
Contributing to global product performance measurement work stream, working to understand the bottom line financial impact of Product & Shipping investment.
Support teams in developing annual plans and targets, and reporting against performance.
Develop self-service capabilities of stakeholders with education and training on available datasets, tools and standardised reporting.
8+ years related experience in finance/analytics/consulting, with proven analytics capabilities and operating successfully in fast-paced, highly complex environments.
Strong business judgement & analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
Superior communication skills – verbal, written & presentation skills. Ability to deal with complex analytics and summarize key findings and business implications.
Ability & confidence to draw complex and detailed insights from large datasets
Ability to thrive in a cross-functional environment while juggling multiple responsibilities, scoping projects, evaluating priorities, and effectively working well within a team
Intellectual curiosity with a passion for problem-solving and creativity.
Finally, but crucially: A passion for eBay, either existing or nascent. We are a unique company, and are looking for people who get excited by our fascinating marketplace & amazing business opportunities.
Superior Excel (modelling, pivot tables, advance functions, statistics), and PowerPoint skills.
Strong financial literacy. Extensive experience with financial modeling.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
SQL coding and database query capabilities a plus but not essential.
Experience working with developers is advantageous
