IHS Markit Director Sales/Business Development in Sydny, Australia

Markit Digital is seeking a Senior Account Management Executive to support and grow our business in the Asia Pacific Region, based in our Sydney, Australia office.

As the representative for APAC, you will have broad responsibility for achieving Markit Digital's business goals within the region. This includes new business growth, customer and account management, and product development.

The perfect candidate is a critical thinker, problem solver, clear writer, excellent communicator, team collaborator, and available to travel domestically and internationally. Candidates should be able to work both autonomously and collaboratively, are well-spoken, professional, and are able to present confidently to small and large groups.

Core responsibilities of the role:

  • You will own APAC for the business, communicating opportunities and challenges to management as well as providing local feedback to inform the product roadmap.

  • You will be a member of and work closely with the Markit Digital Business Development Team, as well as have strong support from leaders of all functional areas to achieve the regional goals

  • You will be responsible to drive all aspects of business development including lead generation, relationship building, pipeline management, proposal development, high level solutions design, and pricing

  • You will have the support of regional sales and account managers. They will work with you to enable the growth of the business by relying on their existing relationships across the financial services market to identify new opportunities

  • You will identify and prioritise target customer groups and regional areas of focus based on market opportunity

  • You will help tailor Markit Digital’s product and technology offerings to better meet local market needs

  • You will actively seek out appropriate platforms to publicise Markit Digital’s capabilities and to position us as a design and technology leader in each regional market

  • You will form strategic alliance partnerships with other financial services technology vendors in region where it is mutually advantageous for the growth of both parties

  • You will develop and maintain relationships with senior level client stakeholders, and work closely with them to understand their businesses and how Markit Digital can help them to be more successful

  • You will identify opportunities for local placement of new or relocated staff to help better meet client demand

Desired qualifications include:

  • Expertise in analyzing clients’ needs and requirements, preferably having provided consultative services to clients and prospects in the past

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with experience presenting to C-suite

  • Relationship development and cultivation with key customers and prospects

  • Working with product/sales groups in the development of opportunities and execution of contracts

  • Assist in the management of the entire sales lifecycle of a deal including liaising with senior sales people and client support to provide ongoing support and training to existing clients

  • Assist in the renewal of existing contracts

  • Prepare commercial proposals and contracts as required

  • Identify new business opportunities, and assist in broadening the client base

  • Maintain regular client contact including regular onsite visits

  • Contribute to ongoing product development effort through client feedback

  • Familiary with contract and invoicing processes, from the client perspective

  • Maintain contract overviews

  • Provide process improvement suggestions

  • Become a product expert for Markit Digital’s business

Job Qualifications

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree and at least two to five years equivalent experience, preferably in a high technology environment

  • Software: InDesign, SalesForce, Microsoft Office
