About the role

An exciting, permanent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Biometrics Engineer to provide technical leadership (in Biometrics) to a specific Managed Services client group. The role will involve providing 3rdlevel support services and change management to ensure minimum downtime and the maintenance of managed service offerings.

This is an excellent career opportunity to act as subject matter expert in the delivery of key biometric (including facial recognition, fingerprinting) services for NEC.

Key responsibilities

Reporting to the Technical Delivery Manager – Biometrics, you will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Provide day to day operational management of key NEC Fingerprint & Face Recognition Biometric applications deployed to a range of customers

  • Ensure Changed and Application Releases are conducted to ensure minimal impact to customers with no unplanned/unexpected downtime

  • Ensure where required Post Incident Review reports are conducted in a suitable timeframe with the required level of detail

  • Ensure high levels of system availability, capacity, reliability, data integrity, security and performance are maintained

  • Proactively perform required system monitoring, alert/event response, maintenance and patching activities

  • Ensure appropriate knowledge transfer between members of the Biometric delivery and from the Biometric Delivery team to other NEC resolver teams ie service desk and other level 2 resolver teams to ensure cost effective delivery

  • Ensure timely resolution of issues that are escalated to Level 4 resolver teams such as NECAM Centre of Biometrics Excellence

Skills and experience

To be successful in the role, you will have a significant number of years' experience in IT infrastructure and or Biometrics with a knowledge of compute, storage and virtualisation technologies. You will be well versed to working in an IT Operations and/or applications and Managed Services environment.

Additionally, you will have the following:

  • Previous experience with Fingerprint & Face Recognition Biometric applications

  • An excellent understanding or working knowledge of NEC’s and competing vendors capabilities in Biometrics

  • Experience in the design, support and operations of Biometric Managed Solutions

  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and especially presentation skills

  • Driven for results and ability to motivate the team to achieve results

  • Hands on experience with Linux, JAVA, Oracle/SQL, Windows & Virtualisation Technologies is an advantage

  • Excellent troubleshooting & problem solving skills
